Who am I? I’m Alex — A 26 year old LA based entrepreneur who’s inspired to help fellow Millennials achieve their professional business and career goals through goal-setting, self-awareness, and behavior change. My educational background is in Organizational Psychology with the addition of over 4 years of experience at two Fortune 500 entertainment companies, DreamWorks Animation and NBCUniversal.
For the past 5 years, I’ve been on a journey to find my passion that compliments my natural talents. One day, it hit me — I needed to become a coach. A coach that empowers fellow Millennial entrepreneurs and corporate employees understand their potential and identify their career goals so that they can make a purposeful impact at their company.
Before I decided to make a life-changing decision, I was in conversation with an admissions coach from iPEC (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching) for over 2 years. I had trouble committing. There was so much that had to be done in my mind before I could fully commit, needless to say, I had fears built up that kept me from reaching my potential as a successful coach.
Those fears became excuses:
1. You have an amazing full-time job at NBC Universal — why bother?
2. You need to finish your PhD graduate program first…
3. The cost is too much… I shouldn’t invest that much in myself
What kinds of excuses was I making? I wanted to follow my passion and truly make an impact in people’s lives, but I wasn’t willing to take the next big step. How would I become a coach for others if I wasn’t willing to make career changing moves for myself?
NO MORE EXCUSES —
On June 15, 2018, I left my full-time job at NBCUniversal. As much as I loved my job and the people I worked with, a part of me felt like there was a piece missing. I needed to put myself and my aspirations first. I saved enough money so that I can pursue my passion for coaching full-time.
I’m also 4 months away from finishing my PhD. This 5 year chapter of my life is about to close and open new doors. Getting through these next few months will be worth the hard work I’ve put in to achieve this career goal I’ve set for myself.
I realized investing in myself is priceless. Always invest in your own personal development and growth. This coaching program was one experience that I’ve been dreaming of for a while.
There are no more excuses.
I’m now enrolled in the best coaching certification program through iPEC, and I couldn’t be any happier. Watch out world, here I come to pursue my passion for coaching.
